Welcome to a look back on past years of
the successful 'Howden Festival'
2007
For 2007 Jacky Carver joined us as President of the Festival
and gave us immeasurable support. A full programme of well
received and well attended lunchtime recitals, early evening
and main evening feature events again broke new ground with
the inclusion of jazz. Our audience totals reflected the appreciation
of those attending, rising as they did by 32%. Of particular
note this year was the White Rosettes who went on to win the
Gold Medal at the National Barbershop Convention after performing
for us. more >>
2006
The 2006 Festival, the sixth to be held, was notable in providing a number of 'firsts'. We held our first Comedy Night and had both the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu and David Fanshawe, the composer of the work, attending an electrifiying performance of 'African Sanctus' at the Minster. The Festival demanded speed and stamina of its visitors with early, mid and late evening events when Saffron followed Vanessa Latarche after Timothy Ackroyd and Brian Sewell's 'Hogarth: The Compassionate Satirist'. more
